Measure Help & Harms

Understand the variety of philosophic approaches that people bring to their purpose, so that you can support each in their way. And so that you can track how you are fixing harms that you have suddenly become aware of.

LET’S GET IN TOUCH

Thinking Styles Research

Do you think of your audience in terms of their role or title? Do you segment them by demographic? These approaches cause serious, lasting, or systemic harm. There is a way to understand the people you are creating solutions for that is more inclusive.

Thinking styles are the varied patterns of interior cognition (inner thinking, emotional reactions, guiding principles) that passed through people’s minds as they addressed their purpose. In our research, we typically find two, three, or even seven different thinking styles within one defined purpose. Your org can clarify your strategy by understanding which thinking style is already supported (often there is one in the team’s mind), and which thinking styles are being harmed by the solution that you have created.

Eventually, your org can produce a variety of solutions, with appropriate communication and interaction for each thinking style–or only for the thinking styles that you want to focus on.

Thinking styles are a great clearly defined way to find a way forward. Thinking styles are a great way for startups and experiments to narrow the frame of their work. The goal of supporting a variety of thinking styles can be the larger end-goal.

Indi and her team can help you do the research to understand the thinking styles in your domain. Contact us.
