Examples – Thinking Styles for Health Behavior Activation

The team at Healthwise published a series of personas (characters) they created for the Commonwealth Fund – Advancing Health Equity publication. The personas (characters) are meant to help practitioners think outside their own experiences and understanding when creating policy and services for people with chronic health conditions.

There are four areas the team studied:

  • People with Three or More Chronic Conditions
  • People Younger than 65 Living with a Disability
  • People with Advancing Illness
  • People Older than 65 with Functional Limitations

(Counter to the philosophy of thinking styles created without demographics, the existing medical community already categorizes people in these four groups. There was a lot of cognitive crossover between groups in our research, but the team was required to present it in these four categories.)
