What Will Happen
- Finding Thinking Styles Practice Group is where we work with real data as a team.
- We have 90 short stories from people in the study. (with permission, a study we use frequently)
- The study is about what went through people’s minds as they decided whether or not to go out to a performance.
- By the last meeting we will have a set of thinking styles and ideas how to use them
Your Participation
- Each of you will be assigned about 6-9 stories.
- You are expected to represent people’s cognition from these 6-9 stories in each meeting.
- If you miss the Kickoff, you might be able to beg several others to give you one of their people.
- If you prefer to just watch during the meetings (there are reasons for this), please let Indi know.
- Certification requires participation, though.
Prepare for Each Meeting
- The course is included in this bundle with the Practice Group.
- There are specific lessons assigned between each practice meeting from the Thinking Styles self-paced course. (about 2-3 hours each week)
- A decent plan is to watch the associated course lessons 30-minutes a day for 6 days before each practice meeting.
- Life tends to mess up plans, so watching the videos the night before also works.
- You can start watching videos as soon as you enroll, to get a head start.
- Ask questions about the lessons on the Slack channel #course-thinking-styles.
Meeting Info
- Eating during the Zoom calls is welcome. Please bring whatever energy form you need!
- Find the links for Zoom and Mural under each “lesson” in My Courses – Practice Group here on the indiyoung.com website.
- Each meeting is 2 hours.
- Check your local time for when to start. (Here is Group A 9am San Francisco and Group B 6pm San Francisco.)
- Zoom calls: We use a different link for the Kickoff and each of the five meetings.
- Mural boards: We collaborate using stickies on a set of boards in Mural over the whole 6 weeks.
- Check Slack if the meeting doesn’t seem to be happening. If Indi’s internet or electricity are down, she will let you know on the channel and postpone the meeting by a week. If the problem is on your side, we will be watching the channel and respond to you.
Can’t Make a Meeting
- We will set up an understudy for each person in the Kickoff. This understudy will take over your people’s stories in addition to their own.
- Contact your understudy, and let us know on Slack if you will not make a meeting.
- Try not to surprise your understudy at the last minute.
- Try not to miss more than one meeting.
- A recording of the meeting will be available for you on the page where the Zoom & Mural links are.
- Recordings will be available for six months.
- Certification depends on your participation in meetings, so Indi can see how you are doing.
Before the Kickoff
- There are some lessons that will be helpful to watch them before our Kickoff Meeting. (encouraged)
- Section 1 (only first two lessons, 41 minutes)
- 1.1 Think Bigger
- 1.2 Define Thinking Styles
- Section 2 (all four lessons, 1 hour 2 minutes)
- 2.1 Validity = Team
- 2.2 Represent Your People
- 2.3 Split Stories or Not?
- 2.4 Note the Essential Cognition
